Our most important festivals are Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Azha, Eid-Milad-un-Nabi and Muharram. All these festivals reflect our culture.
 Eid-ul-Fitr is celebrated on the 1st shawal.It is a thanksgiving occasion for all Muslims especially those who have observed all the fasts during Ramadan. It reminds us that in a muslim society celebrations and joys are to be shared with all.

Eid-ul-Azha is celebrated every year on the 10th of Zil Haj. It reminds us of the event when Hazrat Ibrahim (A.S) offered his son te be sacrificed in the way of Allah almighty . The Muslims sacrificed animals on this Eid in the way of Allah almighty and distribute meat among relatives and the poor.

Muharram is celebrated every year to remind people of the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A),the grandson of Rasool (PBUH).This day is observed with sorrow and grief. On the 10th of Muharram funeral precessions are taken out . This day reminds us about the tragic event when Hazrat Imram Hussain (R.A) and his companions sacrificed their lives for the cause of Islam fighting against the Yazid’s (lanti) army.
Eid-Milad-un Nabi is celebrated on the 12th of Rabi-ul-Awal .Our Rasool Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) was born on this day . Mosques,bazaars, roads and buildings are beautifully decorated and illuminated on this day.
Apart from these ,some other festivals are also celebrated in Pakistan such as Christmas, Durga Puja and Diwali by christions and Hindus respectively.

  1. Thanks admin for sharing such a beautiful article. There is no doubt islamic festivals are the best festival in the world. But if we talk about non-islamic festivals, I will go with Karachi Literature Festival. Because there were a lot of knowledge in shape of speakers and book stalls for every culture.
